IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
To: Contractors and suppliers of the Panama Canal Authority
Subject: Stop payment and/or replacement of checks
Effective October 1, 2010, requests for stop payment on checks issued by the Panama Canal Authority and that have been reported as lost or stolen will have a B/.25.00 charge. This cost will be deducted from the amount of the replacement check. Stop payments and/or replacement checks will only be processed for payments over B/. 25.00. Please refer to contractual clause 4.28.18, Form of Payment.
Checks can be picked up at Citibank branches located in El Dorado, Panama, and in Cristobal, Colon or received by mail. In this regard, please take note of the following:
- To pick up checks at the Citibank: the beneficiary shall present the ACP with a letter authorizing the person(s) to pick up checks at Citibank branches. - To receive checks by mail: the beneficiary of the check must ensure that the beneficiary is duly authorized to receive correspondence in the postal address provided to the ACP.
