Useful Information About Panama
  • Local time GMT-5 (Same as in Colombia, Ecuador, Haiti, Jamaica, Peru and Cayman Islands).
  • Electric current is 120V. 240V is available in hotels.
  • Taxes. All purchases in Panama are subject to 7% Goods and Services Transfer Tax (ITBM), except for medicines, food and school supplies.
  • Tips. In some restaurants the tip is included in the bill. It is a common practice to tip 10% of the total bill.

  • Panama's climate is pleasantly tropical, the country has two seasons: rainy and dry. The first is from May to December, where in spite of the rain, the sun's warm rays are felt most of the day. During the dry season or summer, from mid-December to April, the pleasant winds blow constantly.
